2. What we collect
We collect information you provide directly: business name, business address, principal officer or member names and addresses, ownership percentages, EIN or SSN where required for federal filings, banking information for billing, and any documents you upload to our platform. We also collect technical information automatically when you visit our website: IP address, browser type, pages visited, referring URL, and approximate location based on IP. We use cookies and similar technologies to maintain sessions and analyze site usage.
3. How we use information
We use your information to deliver the services you request (filing formation documents, annual reports, BOI reports, etc.), communicate with you about your filings, respond to support requests, process payments, send you transactional and (with opt-in) marketing communications, monitor and improve our services, comply with legal and regulatory obligations, and prevent fraud.
4. Sharing
We share information with: (a) state and federal agencies as required to file the documents you authorize; (b) service providers under written contract who help us deliver our services (hosting, email, payments, banking, SMS notifications); (c) professional services partners only with your explicit authorization (accountant introductions, attorney referrals); (d) law enforcement or regulators when required by law or to investigate fraud. We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
5. Your rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you have rights to access, correct, delete, or port your personal information, restrict or object to certain processing, and withdraw consent. 6. International transfers
File.Business operates from the United States. If you provide information from outside the U.S., it will be transferred to and processed in the U.S. We use standard contractual clauses and other appropriate safeguards where required by law.
7. Retention
Active customers: we retain account and filing data for as long as your account is active. Cancelled accounts: we retain records for seven years to satisfy tax, audit, and regulatory requirements, then we delete or anonymize them. You can request earlier deletion at any time subject to legal retention requirements.
8. Security
We use industry-standard security controls including TLS 1.3 in transit, AES-256 at rest, SOC 2 Type II audited processes, multi-factor authentication for staff access, and continuous monitoring. No system is perfectly secure; if a security incident affects your data, we will notify you within 72 hours of confirmation.
9. Children
Our services are intended for individuals 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
10. Changes
We may update this policy. Material changes will be communicated by email at least 30 days before they take effect. The effective date at the top of this page reflects the latest revision.
